21 months ago, I had a dream to help refugees and migrants learn IT skills. That’s how the CodeYourPath initiative started.
I had no experience running a volunteer-based project, but I believed that if I, an unemployed refugee who faced challenges transitioning from journalism to IT, could help others learn, there would be other people who wanted to help too.
And I was right – it worked!
After I posted about my initiative with the help of my friend Vadim, we received nearly 100 applications from volunteers in over 20 countries. It was incredible. I couldn’t believe the number of people willing to help.
With the support of these amazing volunteers – our angels – we launched a mentorship program and helped over 20 refugees in Poland learn the basics of IT skills in the last year.
Working with volunteers inspired me to take my journey further, and I founded the CodeYourPath Foundation.
This year, we’ve welcomed even more volunteers, and together we’re continuing to support migrants and refugees in learning IT skills.
Here are just a few of the incredible stories from our volunteers:
- One of our dedicated volunteers – Zenobia helped a migrant from Azerbaijan land a new job as a Frontend Developer at Goldman Sachs.
- Hammad, who has been with us for over a year, has helped five people learn Frontend Development. Now, he runs Saturday coding workshops for expats in Warsaw.
- Other volunteers are mentoring our participants and coordinating current and upcoming projects, making an impact every day.
Dear angels, today is your day! I deeply appreciate every minute you invest in helping our mentees learn and grow. Your support is invaluable, and your kindness makes a real difference.
I believe that good always comes back to you – twice as strong.
Thank you for making the impossible possible!
Thank you for supporting talents through CodeYourPath.
Happy Volunteers Day!
